Indo Voyages was founded by Herman Paseru, an Indonesian travel specialist born and raised in Tana Toraja, a region known for its strong cultural heritage, ancestral traditions, and deeply rooted community life.
Growing up in Sulawesi, he was immersed in local ceremonies, family traditions, and cultural practices from an early age. These experiences shaped his understanding of Indonesia not only as a destination, but as a living landscape of cultures, stories, and human connections.
Raised in Toraja
Growing up in Tana Toraja, Herman was surrounded by rich cultural traditions, community gatherings, and meaningful ceremonies that shaped his appreciation for people, heritage, and authentic human connections.
These early experiences inspired his passion for meaningful travel and cultural experiences, values that continue to shape his journey in the travel industry today.
Education and international exposure
In 2004, he moved to Bali to study English at Warmadewa University.
During his time in Bali, he met travelers from Europe, America, and other regions, which sparked his interest in cross cultural communication and international travel perspectives. This led him to study French at Alliance Française de Denpasar.
He later continued his cultural and language immersion experience in France, studying and living in Saint-Malo and Strasbourg.
These international experiences shaped his understanding of how travelers perceive Indonesia, and how meaningful journeys are created through cultural awareness, storytelling, and local insight.
Professional experience in tourism
Herman has more than 20 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, and international travel services.
His career includes hotel and hospitality operations, tour guiding across Indonesia, cultural travel coordination, and international cruise line experience in hotel departments, working with travelers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This experience gave him a strong ability to connect Indonesian local culture with international travel expectations.
Founding Indo Voyages
After years of experience in the tourism industry, Herman Paseru founded Indo Voyages in 2018 as a Bali based travel company focused on creating more personal, culturally grounded, and thoughtfully designed journeys across Indonesia.
The approach goes beyond standard itineraries, focusing instead on meaningful travel experiences, cultural depth, regional understanding, and authentic encounters with local communities.
Today, Indo Voyages specializes in tailor made journeys across Indonesia, with a strong focus on Sulawesi and cultural destinations such as Tana Toraja, the Togean Islands, and other regions in Eastern Indonesia.
